Hi--love the show. I've been homeschooling for 5 years, and just this year I started using an online math program for my oldest. It's called ALECS, and I feel like this program has saved my sanity. Math is my weak point as a hsing mom--I'm just not very good at "splainin" things. This program does all the things I don't do well, and my daughter is not hindered by her mother's lack of ability. She has already finished meeting all of the fifth grade math standards for California--it tests, explains, retests, etc., and moves on whenever a concept is mastered. I would say that it's not a great fit for my younger students (5, 7 & 8), but that's an age thing because you have to be able to work independently. Next year I'll try it with my middle two.

Thanks for the show Leslie, I really enjoy listening to another hsing mom while I'm doing dishes. :)

We take time off as we need it, for a holiday, special field trips, summer camps, traveling for family, stuff happening at our farm that will need our attention. We homeschool at our own pace and try not to worry so much about getting behind thats the great thing about homeschooing for us to go at our own speed.
